Guided Tour: Tivoli During Occupation

Tivoli Gardens Main Entrance

Join us for a historical tour through Tivoli Gardens (The tour is in danish)

In 1940, the occupation and the restrictions it brought cast doubt on Tivoli Gardens' seasonal opening. Fortunately, the Gardens did open, becoming a sanctuary for many during the Second World War.

On this tour, you'll hear the story behind the blackout lamps designed for Tivoli by Poul Henningsen, the flickering lights on the Concert Hall, and the legend of the dragons on the Pantomime Theatre, said to have protected it when Danish Nazi-sympathisers firebombed Tivoli Gardens in 1944.

The tours are led by one of Tivoli's knowledgeable guides. Registration will open soon via a link published on this page.
