Experience a vibrant and captivating performance as the Gentofte Concert Band shares its infectious passion for music. The program presents an exciting blend of enchanting and entertaining works—pieces the orchestra not only loves to listen to but especially enjoys playing!

Several selections spotlight solo performances, including the energetic The Two Trumpeters by Danish composer Hans Peter Nielsen and the lyrical A Lindisfarne Rhapsody by British composer Philip Sparke. Originally commissioned as a flute solo, A Lindisfarne Rhapsody draws inspiration from Lindisfarne, a historic island off England’s east coast, steeped in legend and history.

Dance rhythms take centre stage in Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances, a five-movement work inspired by early 20th-century dance forms. Meanwhile, a touch of Tivoli Gardens nostalgia is woven into the program with music by the legendary H.C. Lumbye, who conducted his own compositions at Tivoli’s grand opening in 1843.

Prepare for an evening of delightful and engaging music with the Gentofte Concert Band—a dedicated wind orchestra of 45 passionate amateur musicians spanning all ages. The ensemble is led by Henrik Næser Christiansen, a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music with a degree in Music Management. Despite his young age, he brings extensive conducting experience to the podium.
