Garrett Keast
Tenor: Jonathan Tetelman
Soprano: Yana Kleyn

Excerpts from Charles Gounods Faust, Riccardo Zandonais Francesca da Rimini, Puccinis Le Villi, Giordanos Fedora and Tjajkovskijs Romeo og Julie.

Experience the bittersweet beauty of tragic love with renowned tenor Jonathan Tetelman at Tivoli Gardens. This brilliant, Chilean-born artist, who has captivated audiences worldwide, curates a performance featuring opera’s greatest duets—those that capture the poignant essence of love stories destined for heartbreak. The dramatic tension of these impossible loves inspires composers to create some of their most passionate and imaginative works.

This star-studded evening features a magnificent selection of opera’s most tragic love duets. Highlights include excerpts from Charles Gounod’s Faust, where seduction and vanity lead to fatal consequences; Riccardo Zandonai’s Francesca da Rimini, where lovers die in each other’s arms, stabbed by a vengeful brother; Puccini’s Le villi, where a betrayed woman returns from the dead as a vengeful spirit; and Umberto Giordano’s Fedora, where political intrigue pits lovers against one another in a tragedy culminating in a poisoned jewel. Naturally, no exploration of tragic love would be complete without Romeo and Juliet, the ultimate star-crossed lovers.
Prepare to be moved by an evening of exquisite vocal artistry as Jonathan Tetelman, one of the greatest talents of his generation, graces Tivoli Concert Hall. His warm, velvety tenor voice will evoke both tears and shivers in a program featuring beloved classics and hidden gems. Tetelman’s unique voice has been praised as "matchless, radiant, and distinctive," with a "velvety yet electrifying edge." In recent seasons, he has captivated audiences at The Metropolitan Opera, Festival Aix-en-Provence, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, solidifying his status as an international star.
